Here’s what readers are saying about Victim of Circumstances

I read this book in one night. The suspense, the who done what kept me reading until 3:30 am. It is one of the best books I have read in a while. I usually do not read this genre, but will definitely read more from this author.

I loved this book. The excitement starts on the first page and holds to the very end. You will feel like you know the characters, some you will love, others not so much. The twists and turns of excitement and emotions will keep you interested. This book is a good read and I highly recommend it.

Victims of Circumstance is a feel good read. It starts with a bang and you are left wondering ‘who done it.’ There is just enough intrigue to keep the pages turning. If you like mystery, thrillers or romance this book is for you. You will find yourself rooting for the main character. The only complaint I have is her man comes with money and a plane, mine only comes with a hammer and pouch, but a girl can dream! I love a happy ending and this book has it in spades. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was surprised at the turn of events and just when I thought I knew what was happening Bam…Lori has a way of making you feel for the good-guys and hate the bad. If you want to cry and cheer at the same time I recommend Victims of Circumstance

Oh and in case your wondering, my sixth book, Revelations From the Past, comes out April 3 and is the story of Victim of Circumstances Heroine’s best friend!

Title: Ella’s Cougar (Chestnut Rock Shifters, Book 7)
Author: Jane Wakely
Genre: Paranormal/Shifter Romance
Publisher: Rebel Ink Press

Ella Cardwell never forgot the cougar she met in the forest after wandering away from her parents when she was six years old. Her unbelievable story, combined with her fascination of the animals, caused her to leave home when she turned eighteen and find the cougar that monopolizes her thoughts. She makes the journey to the Chestnut Rock Resort, certain she will find her destiny—the boy, now a man, from all those years ago. She recognizes him on sight, but he’s not waiting for her like she thought he would be.

Cole Rookman met his mate when he was too young to understand the strong, intense feelings conjured by the mating instinct. With no way to track her down, he’s lived for nearly fifteen years with the knowledge he would never be able to claim her, and he would always be alone. Unusual circumstances lead to allowing thoughts of his mate to break down his carefully constructed barriers, and he risks losing everything.

Ella makes new friends, but they soon learn her secret: she came looking for a man who is unavailable. Instead of censure, they offer comfort and friendship until the truth starts to unravel and her crush is ultimately revealed. Cole wants to believe his mate searched him out, but after battling severe depression, he’s not willing to raise his hopes. Wishing for something impossible is reckless, but when all signs point to the girl as his mate, he has to find her and see for himself.

Ella Cardwell smiled as she reached the end of the asphalt path. The walk through the Chestnut Rock National Forest was beautiful, but she’d been on her feet nearly three hours, covering over ten miles. Her wobbly legs screamed for a break, and instead of crossing through the short wrought iron gate and onto the concrete road, she surveyed her surroundings and spotted a group of large rocks a few feet away.

The desire to see him pushed her to take a step forward, but she also wanted a moment to freshen up and catch her breath. A small internal battle took place before she gave in to her body’s needs and climbed up on the smallest rock of the group. She sat comfortably with her legs dangling over the side of the rock, and sipped some water as she rolled her ankles and wiggled her feet. She thought about the boy who’d come to her rescue the last time she’d been alone in the forest and a smile formed.

Fourteen years earlier, at the age of six, her family spent two days at the Chestnut Rock Resort. While her father packed the car and her mother handled the check-out process, Ella followed a butterfly across the expansive lawn in front of the hotel, through the open gate, and out into the forest.

The blue winged beauty lured her deep into the forest, gracefully waiting every few feet for her to catch up when she started to slow down. The butterfly seemed intent on her mission, and Ella remembered wishing to find a world of hidden fairies, or the end of a rainbow, as she skipped and hopped through the leaves on the forest floor. Then suddenly, the butterfly disappeared and she was left alone.

Tears spilled down her cheeks. At first they were angry tears. She’d been mad at the butterfly for leaving, but they soon turned to tears of fear when she realized she was lost. She sat against the nearest tree and hugged her knees to her chest, hoping her parents—or anyone—would find her before dark.

As if by magic, a small cougar stepped out of the dense trees in front of her.
